Monument to the Heroic Children

This monument was inaugurated in 1952. it six marble columns with bronze eagles at the top represent the fallen six cadets who fought to defend the Chapultepec castle which was a military school in September 1847 during the war with the US.

The center piece is an image representing motherland holding a fallen soldier in battle.

It is said that officially this is the monument to the motherland or monumento a la patria, but everybody knows it as the niños heroes monument.

Taken from a bridge that goes over a highway.
This bridge connects Paseo de la Reforma avenue to the bosque de Chapultepec park. the skyscraper in the background is the Torre Mayor the tallest building in the city on Reforma avenue.
