Three Kings Cake.


This past weekend the mayor of the city headlined this now traditional event.
A monumental three kings cake was made to commemorate the coming of the three kings.

The cake measured 1500 metres long, it was made with 7,500 kilograms of flour, 3,725 kilos of butter, 56,880 eggs, one thousand liters of milk, 2,900 kilos of sugar and more than two tons of figs, citron green, white and citron Red and orange peel.

The organizers expected close to a million people to show up and try the bread.

This is what a regular "rosca" looks like. and it's really good!!


They make them in different sizes. it contains little plastic dolls hidden within representing baby Jesus depending on the size of the cake you get certain amount of dolls. the tradition says that when you cut the cake and you find one doll you should invite family and friends for tamales on February 2nd, day of the Candelaria this day according to history is when Jesus was properly dressed for the first time. so in celebration a feast was prepared in this case tamales.
